Crying out for God’s mercy in times of distress and affliction.Some believe in fate and some destiny but the believer life is directed by God. The cause of distress can be the result of the attitude of people sin nature and from our own sin nature too.Incase of david it was both it was from his sin and from the people sins.It was a prototype sufferings of coming Christ who has taken the sins of David and of the whole world on him.Whatever the reason we are not here to judge anyone.When someone is going on divine discipline we should not poke our nose in between and judge them but rather our duty is to comfort and show divine guidance we are here in this world not to judge anyone but to exhibit the divine light.Whether you believe it or not? The life of David was in God’s control and as per His guidance.Then why the distress and affliction? The distress and affliction was the result of his sin of adultery with Bethsheba.Sin always destroys our life.People have become bored by listening to the word sin.Once some church elders come to a pastor with a suggestion to replace the word Sin with temptation ,weakness,disobedience etc.But the pastor said I will give you the poison bottle by labeling it as sweet or sugar can you keep it in your home so that it will be available to your family and children.Then all the elders started grumbling how can we do this? Then the pastor answered it is same with sin how I can replace the word sin with other words ? sin is sin and poison is poison.Poison never becomes sweet and sweet never becomes poison.We need to exhort people about the impending natures of Poison like sin.David took it easy to entangle with sin and thought he can cover his sin by his power but God lead him under divine discipline.
In Hebrews 12:4-11 “ In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
God's discipline is to lead towards Spiritual Maturity. |
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it".
So God allowed this distress and affliction in His life so that David would live in this world as the Lord desired him to do.It was not the right time for the David to be in the palace when the battle is going on in the ground.David could have listened to his inner voice and might have gone to participate in the battle and all the distress could have been stopped.Sin brings reproach to us.
Yet God’s discipline is to make us to conform into His image he is not going to leave the paths of a believer in distress forever.

The adultery was the result of David’s distress.We see in this world today that there is rampant sexual sins permeated every sphere in the human life.Schools,colleges,Internet cafes,companies,industries and every where this has been growing.Is it good for the children of God to compromise the ungodly nature and behavior of his colleagues in the sphere of his location wherever he is?

In a school,college,company,industry if this kind of attitude is seen by a believer what should be done? If the believers have the compromising attitude they are going to lose many spiritual blessings in their future.Living is important at the same time Holiness is too important. When we honor God, God will rightly honor us. No matter that ungodly situations may attract us with beautiful offers of promising bright future to us but the result will be destruction of our soul and demoralizing of our Holiness.The devil may come up to us with beautiful offers of bright positions and future and it will look like as if all our requirements will be fulfilled and our financial status may be secured.
In psalms 1 it is directed
“Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers”

Be biblical what might be the circumstances God will bring you to honor your faith and Holiness.Do not be distracted by the devil because of his green colored offers.In the end it will be of destructive nature.David had the brunt of all this things in His life yet God brought him under divine discipline so that he will learn to lead a life that glorifies God.
If you continue in sin you will lose the spiritual insight may be physical insight even and the weakness will result as a disease in your body.
What harm does it will do to our spiritual life when we compromise with sin? It kills our conscience and deactivate our souls to perform God’s will in our life.What Lot did was he was attracted to the greenery of Sodom and Gomorrah but at last it was filled with the sins of GLB.Even though Lot might have evangelized that place but people might have negative volition and rejected his preaching of Good news.So he started compromising by sitting at that place.Jesus said in Mathew 10:14 “If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet”.

But lot was compromising with his faith and guidance and as a result God started bringing His wrath and burning it with sulphur and furnace and brimstone.Remember Lot had made a very bad decision of choosing the green grass and spoiled his faith however he lived a righteous life amidst of sodom and gommorah but compromise didn’t save his wife from looking back to destructive Sodom and Gomorrah.
