“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I
will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for
I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For
my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”(Matt 11:28-30)
The recent trailer of the biblical
Hollywood block buster movie "Exodus:Gods and Kings" is all set be released in the month of December
2014.Ridley scott who directed Oscar winning movies like Gladiator is making it
stunning with special effects bringing the 1200-1400 BC historicity of Egyptian
rules, rituals and customs during the reign of Pharaoh.
These are the few dialogues from the trailer:
"When men ruled as Gods, one was chosen to change the world."
"The year of your birth there was a prophecy that our leader would be born to liberate us, that leader is you," a slave tells Moses. "After 400 years of slavery, things here have become much worse. As your brother you must set them free."
"I came to tell you something is coming that is far beyond you and I, this is about Egypt's survival do you understand," Moses declares.
I think the whole story of the Exodus gods and kings is summed up In the BIble as we
see about the Moses being mentioned in the book of Hebrews as:
"By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after
he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not
afraid of the king’s edict.
By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as
the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people
of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.He regarded disgrace
for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because
he was looking ahead to his reward.By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the
king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.
By faith he kept the Passover and the application of
(Redemptive blood of Christ through passover) blood , so that the destroyer of
the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel"(Heb 11:23-28)
There is also a beautiful song Sydney wayser "Belfast Child" in this movie.
The facts: “Belfast Child” is a song originally written by Jim Kerr in grief and anger after the atrocity of the 1987 Enniskillen bombing, built on a traditional Irish folk tune.
But in the movie this song appears to give a different application to the context of Egyptian slavery.
When my love said to me,
Meet me down by the gallow tree.
International release dates of the block buster movie |
For it's sad news I bring,
About this old town and all that it's offering.
Some say troubles abound,
Some day soon they're gonna pull the old town down.
One day we'll return here,
When the Belfast Child sings again
Brothers, sisters, where are you now?
As I look for you right through the crowd.
All my life here I've spent,
With my faith in God the Church and the Government.
But there's sadness abound,
Some day soon they're gonna pull the old town down.
One day we'll return here,
When the Belfast Child sings again,
When the Belfast Child sings again
So come back Billy, won't you come on home?
Come back Mary, you've been away so long.
The streets are empty, and your mother's gone.
The girls are crying, it's been oh so long.
And your father's calling, come on home.
Won't you come on home, won't you come on home?
Come back people, you've been gone a while,
And the war is raging, through the Emerald Isle.
That's flesh and blood man, that's flesh and blood,
All the girls are crying but all's not lost.
The streets are empty, the streets are cold.
Won't you come on home, won't you come on home?
The streets are empty,
Life goes on.
One day we'll return here,
When the Belfast Child sings again,
When the Belfast Child sings again.
God is calling His people to return to Him from the bondages of egypt as it soon going to be pulled down.
God is calling His people to return to Him from the bondages of egypt as it soon going to be pulled down.
"A voice is heard on the bare heights, The weeping and the supplications of the sons of Israel; Because they have perverted their way, They have forgotten the LORD their God. "Return, O faithless sons, I will heal your faithlessness." "Behold, we come to You; For You are the LORD our God."Surely, the hills are a deception, A tumult on the mountains. Surely in the LORD our God Is the salvation of Israel"(Jer 3:21-23).…
In this ridley scott in an interview clarified that the gods
, the church, and the government nothing could save the people from the
judgement of the living God.Here he means the (polytheistic) gods of the Egypt not
the monotheistic biblical God of moses, the church means the Egyptian society
and the government of Egypt could not escape the Judgement of Living God came
upon the Egypt through various plagues.God desired the chosen people of Israel to
be His children but throughout the history they mostly disobeyed God and went
through seviour divine discipline. It is God who disciplines his children but
humanity neer should entertain any form Anti-semitism towards his chosen
people.
"This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus"(Eph 3:6).
Pharoah army being drowned in the red sea |
The God of Israel is no merely a God among the millions of
the world but He is the living God,the church is not merely a religious church
but the living church of Jesus, the government is not merely the earthly
government but the eternal kingdom of God and His government is sovereign over
all the religions and government of this world.
I hope to see the Exodus Gods and Kings with cent percent
biblical view even if some of its characteristics have been changed to epic
basis.
Various character in the movie during shooting |
"I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with
the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the
Ancient of Days And was presented before Him."And to Him was given
dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every
language Might serve Him.His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will
not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed” (Dan7:13-14).
“Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the
kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High.
His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and
obey him”(Dan 7:27).'
