“ Because the kingdom of God is in your midst."( luke 17:21)
Recently I have found this magnificent speech by Charlie Chaplin in the movie "The Dictator".There is much need to be contemplated about this message in regard to humanity irrespective of caste and creed. This is the best possible message for humanity I have ever found in terms Socio-economic context. If this message was the visualization of the fuhrer regarding the supremacy of german race (Nazism),there would not be the Holocaust of the 6 million Jews during the second world war 1941-1945.
Here is the The Great Dictator (1940) - Charlie Chaplin - Final Speech - with Subtitles.
"I'm sorry but I don't want to be
an emperor. That's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I
should like to help everyone if possible; Jew, Gentile, black men, white. We
all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by
each others' happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and
despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good
earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and
beautiful, but we have lost the way.
Greed has poisoned men's souls; has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge as made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in man; cries out for universal brotherhood; for the unity of us all.
Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say "Do not despair." The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.
Soldiers! Don't give yourselves
to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you; who regiment your lives, tell
you what to do, what to think and what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat
you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder! Don't give yourselves to these
unnatural men---machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not
machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have a love of humanity in your
hearts! You don't hate! Only the unloved hate; the unloved and the unnatural.
Soldiers! Don't fight for
slavery! Fight for liberty! In the seventeenth chapter of St. Luke, it’s
written “the kingdom of God is within man”, not one man nor a group of men, but
in all men! In you! You, the people, have the power, the power to create
machines, the power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to
make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.
Then in the name of democracy, let us use that power.
Let us all unite. Let us fight
for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will
give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things,
brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfill their promise.
They never will! Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let
us fight to fulfill that promise! Let us fight to free the world! To do away
with national barriers! To do away with greed, with hate and intolerance! Let
us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to
all men’s happiness.
Soldiers, in the name of democracy, let us all
unite"!
Jesus is our Richness |
In the above transcript as said by Chaplin that the Kingdom of God is among you.Yes the Kingdom of God is among us through hearing the good news of Christ and believing in His sacrificial death for our eternity.Jesus came to this world to change the fate of humanity for both on time and eternity...If not the humanity might be totally destroyed from the planet earth with it's sin nature.....Jesus provides the forgiveness of sins and gives a new life and hope for both in time and eternity.
The very words spoken by Jesus are of eternal origin but Jesus does concern about the physical well being of humanity but the disobedience of humanity towards complying the divine wisdom and gospel is the result of tragedy and disaster in this world unless the world could have been a better place like heaven. As I born and brought up as a Hindu, I developed a anti-visual perception regarding Christianity, but once started reading the gospel of Christ my visualization had changed through repentance.I have found the words of Jesus to be authentic, pure,Spiritual, eternal and in totally concern with the eternal welfare of humanity which was never spoken by anyone in this world. He is the perfect role-model,my all time favourite hero,My savior, My God and Lord.
As said by a famous socialist of a communist country:
Jesus was the socialist in spiritual terms |
These are the words of Christ concerning Humanity for both in time and eternity.............
Luke 4:16-19 "When he came to
Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the sabbath
day, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet
Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it
was written:
'The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me
to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let
the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour".
Matthew 25:34-36 "Then the king
will say to those at his right hand, "Come, you that are blessed by my
Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something
to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me
clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited
me."
The gospel is not money lending but the gift of eternal life |
Mark 10:21-22 "Jesus, looking at
him, loved him and said, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and
give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come,
follow me." When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for
he had many possessions".
Mark 12:41-44 "He sat down
opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury.
Many rich people put in large sums.A poor widow came and put in two small
copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said
to them, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those
who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out
of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had,
all she had to live on".
To all who doubt about Jesus Socialism |
Luke 14:12-14 "He said also to the
one who had invited him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not
invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in
case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. But when you give
a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will
be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the
resurrection of the righteous."
Luke 12:16-21 "Then he told them a
parable: "The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to
himself, 'What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?' Then he
said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and
there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul,
you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' But
God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you.
And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So it is with those who
store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God."
As said by the Dictator:
Let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth a future and old age a security.
There is a decent world with a future and security existing for those who believe in Jesus as their personal savior...
“ For the creation is eagerly awaiting the revelation of God’s children, because the creation has become subject to futility, though not by anything it did.The one who subjected it did so in the certainty that the creation itself would also be set free from corrupting bondage in order to share the glorious freedom of God’s children. For we know that all the rest of creation has been groaning with the pains of childbirth up to the present time. However, not only the creation, but we who have the first fruits of the Spirit also groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies. ”(Rom 8:21-23).…
