Ayodhya verdict: Govt invokes Mahatma for peace

New Delhi: On the eve of the Ayodhya verdict, the Centre on Wednesday said that adequate measures had been taken to ensure that there was no trouble as it once again appealed for maintenance of peace for which it even invoked Mahatma Gandhi.

Observing that India has "moved on" since 1992, Home Minister P Chidambaram said he does not "foresee any problems" as almost all political parties, religious groups and those associated with the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suits have said that they would respect the court verdict.

"But, as government, we have to take measures. So we have deployed adequate forces," he said.

"The Central government has taken adequate measures and has deployed adequate security forces all over the country in order to assist the state governments to maintain law, order and peace," he said.

He once again appealed to all sections of people of the country to cooperate with the government and "uphold the values that are dear to our country".

In this context, Chidambaram invoked Mahatma Gandhi and cited his favourite bhajan - 'Ishwar Allah Tero Naam, Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwan'.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that there would be no trouble after the judgement.

"I think, India has moved on, young people have moved on. I think, young people have recognised that India story is much more than a dispute over a place where one religious group claims they are entitled to than another religious group," he said.

He contended that "the India story is much bigger a story and young people recognise that that bigger story should not be derailed over dispute over a piece of land."

Pointing out that political parties and religious leaders have appealed for peace, the Home Minister said, "I think, India has moved, especially people who were born after 1992. They have a very different world view."

Being an young boy of 13 years during 6 Dec 1992 as I was the RSS member [Bal Shaka]and under the guidance of our the then Guruji shri Jagadeshwar Rao who was working as a Hindi pandit in St.John’s Church High School ,Secunderabad. I  remember how I was greatly inspired ,distributed literature so that all the hindu young people to be motivated to participate  to  go Ayodhya inorder the Ram Temple must be established at Ayodhya. I remember how I was the religious fanatic and my plans was greatly discouraged by my parents at that time. I praise God that he saved and regenerated me by obeying the gospel during the very next days. Many people were killed belonging to both religions and due to Court verdict has to be announced on 30-09-2010 regarding the Ayodhya and Babri issue, let us pray that peace will prevail and no innocent lives will be at risk and attack.

Prayer For Our Country

Heavenly Father, we pray You
To cradle our nation in Your arms
As You did in its infancy.

Only by living in the spirit of Your laws
Can we reach true liberty and maturity.
Guide and foster leaders
Of integrity and righteousness
With the vision and courage
Of our forefathers.

We pray You
To till the soil of our nation
With true Evangelism and renewal
That all men will find
The freedom and happiness
That exists only through Your grace. Amen.

Prayer For Our Country
            Almighty God,
bless our nation
and make it true to the ideas
of freedom, justice and brotherhood
for all who make it great.

Guard us from war,
from fire and wind,
from compromise, fear, confusion.

Be close to our president and our statesmen;
give them vision and courage,
as they ponder decisions affecting peace
and the future of the world.

Make me more deeply aware of my heritage;
realizing not only my rights
but also my duties
and responsibilities as a citizen.

Make this great land and all its people
know clearly Your will,
that they may fulfill
the destiny ordained for us
in the salvation of the nations,
and the restoring of all things in Christ.
